The 451 Group launched the 451 Grid Adoption Research Service (GARS) – an investigation into user experiences and vendor strategies – in August 2004 to extend the company's nearly three years of proven expertise in analyzing the grid technology market.
This new service analyzes the track record as commercial enterprise users introduce grid technologies to their core IT operations, and it examines the effectiveness of the strategies of vendor companies whose technologies early adopters are deploying.
In doing so, it provides:
- Frontline intelligence on customer/adoption issues and market dynamics, including budgeting, approval, organizational challenges, technical concerns, implementation lifecycle and vendor support
- Deeper and more granular research on technology issues and requirements, from the perspectives of both early-adopter end users and IT vendors
- End-user adoption perspectives on operational requirements in specific industries – comparing implementation experiences with how vendors are positioning current products and developing future roadmaps (i.e., what's working and what's not, where there's an opportunity and where there's not).
451 GARS extends The 451 Group's capabilities by providing an assessment of customer demand, looking at the opportunities and challenges facing early adopters and covering adoption within key industries. It also presents the unique opportunities and challenges in specific vertical market segments.
Deliverables
On an annual basis, 451 GARS provides regular updates to vendors on early-adopter customer dynamics, analyzed from the dual perspectives of specific vertical industries and horizontal issues that all grid early adopters are facing.
Roughly ten in-depth reports (many exceeding 60 pages) are issued annually, from two differing perspectives:
- Half of the reports focus on a specific horizontal issue facing early adopters.
- The other half concentrate on individual vertical markets where grids are being deployed, exploring the themes that are common to users in these industries.
