An essential show for technical Oracle users, this event - like Sun's JavaOne - has outgrown just about every other venue outside of Las Vegas. This year there are keynotes from Compaq's Michael Capellas, Intel's Craig Barrett, EMC's Mike Ruettgers and LoudCloud's Marc Andreessen, along with Larry Ellison himself. There's also a "meet the gurus" session featuring Oracle's top engineers. Oracle expects attendance to be up, but for those who can't make it, there are a full set of webcasts at http://www.oracle.com.

Having origninally been scehduled for early October in New York, Penton Media took the logical decusion to move FIW ot early December and comibie it with its Streaming Media East, which was scehduled for this time anyway.
This actually represents a return to early December for FIW, after two years being held in October, which appeared to us to have been two years on the decline for the show. That was due in part of the vast increase on competition during that period and also what we believe was the "Christmas in New York" factor. That is, attendees simoly liked the idea of spending a few days in Manhattan so close to Christmas.
Whether or not it will be able to recapture that given all that has happened recently is a matter beyond the control of Penton and the exhibiotrs. Keynotes this year
