What truly makes sense for Palm?
All the noise about a Palm sale is about the 'positioning games' acquirers play to gain financial advantage as part of the group of circling vultures. More important is to look at the prospective buyers from a hard-core business perspective.

Motorola M&A background, PBX/cellular integration, Google
As if the two Deal Analysis reports we have on Motorola this week weren't enough, this report will provide some background for the individual deal coverage and look at the company's overall acquisition history and capabilities. There's also been more activity in the PBX/cellular integration sector, which suddenly this year has started to be subsumed by larger players. Finally, we'll look at another purchase by a famous search company – its name starts with G – in the online productivity application area. There were 59 new deals during the seven days of November 8 through 15, worth $768m – the lowest aggregate dollar amount since the last full week of 2005. In other words, no billion-dollar transactions, and mostly tiny deals. The busiest sector was IT services, with 20 announced transactions.
