Ray has first-hand experience of life at the sharp end of the technology industry, having started his career as a programmer in C and C++. His specialty at the451 is mobile and Internet technology.
Before joining the451, Ray was editor-at-large at Unix & NT News, and an occasional contributor to Mobile Communications International magazine.
Ray has also worked for the news daily Computergram and the weekly Unix newsletter UnigramX, during which time he covered the battles of the Unix vendors and the increasing proliferation of the Internet.
Ray has a Master of Science degree in information technology from Cranfield Institute of Technology, UK, a degree in English and a Master of Arts degree in contemporary culture.
