MHP: Who will televise the Java revolution?
US cable operators plan to adopt the interactive television platform standard, DVB MHP. This dramatic news for the cable and interactive television markets could provide a great jump start to the industry. And while it is a significant endorsement of Java, it is also a major headache for Microsoft and others that have supported alternate technologies for the iTV market.
As the industry wakes up to this news, The 451 Group has spent considerable time interviewing key players in all parts of the cable and iTV value chain. This includes operators and vendors in both the US and Europe.
The 451 Group is pleased to announce the publication of an extensive new report on the impact of MHP. The report provides a comprehensive view of this market and its future direction, including strategic assessments of how competitors in different sectors of the iTV space will respond to the introduction of MHP in the US.
The report looks at the strategic responses to MHP across a number of categories, including middleware, hardware, software/services/content developers, network operators and tool vendors. It includes analysis of strategies and positioning for MHP of over 40 companies.
