NoSQL, NewSQL and Beyond: The drivers and use cases for database alternatives

The database landscape has changed significantly in recent years with the emergence of many new relational and non-relational database products. The various database alternatives have been developed in response to the fact that the existing products did not meet requirements with regards to scalability, performance, (relaxed) consistency, agility and intricacy.
