Christopher Noble
Director of Research  |
Christopher covers network management, wireless LANs and related markets for The 451 Group. He brings recent industry experience and deep analytical and journalistic expertise to his analysis of the market.

Prior to joining the company, Chris was Director of Information and Vice President of Web Strategy for Band-X, the world's first bandwidth exchange, where he was instrumental in designing the company's Web-based bandwidth-trading systems and capturing and packaging the information generated by trading activities. He also handled press relations for the company.

Previously, Chris was Managing/Executive Editor of CommunicationsWeek International and Total Telecom, where he coupled his analytical skills with the management of editorial workflow systems and the design of Web-based publishing tools. For the ITU's Telecoms 99 Conference, he was commissioned to design and edit a real-time news service that enabled show attendees equipped with handheld devices to receive news from around the show, direct from journalists using cellular-equipped laptops, each running a publishing server. Chris has managed the organization and publishing system design for numerous other conferences and trade shows.

Until he joined CommunicationsWeek, Chris spent many years at ComputerWire, now part of Datamonitor. There he held numerous senior editorial positions, including Deputy Editor of the daily Computergram International and Managing Editor of Multimedia Futures and Online Reporter, as well as Editor of Network Week and PowerPC News, which, in early 1994, was one of the first commercial news services to be published on the Web.
