Steve covers the networking industries for The 451 Group, focusing on networking equipment, next-generation telephony and network applications. He follows developments across the industry, from VoiceXML application service providers to migration strategies for core ATM switches.
Before joining the company at its inception in April 2000, Steve covered technology and economic trends for European financial newswire AFX News in his role as San Francisco Bureau Chief, following a stint at the company's London office. While at AFX, formerly a joint venture of the Financial Times and AFP, Steve established and fine-tuned the service's framework for coverage of US technology companies and established its first office on the US West Coast in 1998.
Steve is also part of 451 TechDealmaker's founding team. Among his industry engagements, Steve moderated a panel discussion at the Churchill Club in Silicon Valley on the future of voice technology.
Steve has a degree in Linguistics and Zulu from the University of Cape Town, where he graduated with honors, and an MA in Journalism from Northwestern University's Medill School of Journalism.
